19 Dec 2007 - School dinner cost increase

All parents will have recently received a letter from school about changes to the cost of school dinners. From January 2008 the cost of a school dinner will be £1.80 per day (£9 per week).

This is still cheaper that some other schools in the County, where the charge is £1.85 a day. £1.80 represents excellent value for the quality of meals provided.

The costs of the school meals service continues to

increase, and it’s only by providing more meals every day that the books can be balanced. We are urging all parents who don’t already use the school meals service to consider doing so regularly. There is no subsidy for the catering service and it requires the majority of pupils to use the service to keep the dining hall open and to provide healthy and nutritious meals at a reasonable price.
