Mrs Russell's Indian Adventures
During half term, I travelled to the Punjab region of India along with nine other teachers, to look at Citizenship in schools. We looked at eight different schools and it really was an amazing experience.
Discipline is excellent, class sizes are very large and the schools are nowhere near as well resourced as in the UK. Teaching methods are also very different; it was very much ?chalk and talk? and not a lot of student / teacher interaction.
Interestingly, there is no SEN provision to speak of and schools like The Milestone just don?t exist.
The teaching of Citizenship is excellent and in this area, we have a lot to learn from our Indian counterparts.
I will be writing some more news about the visit for the school website - check back later.
